Gone, but not forgotten.
Gone but not forgotten, a vestige of an ear gone by slowly succumbs to senescence. Once upon a time, this derelict water boat would have served an integral role in the flensing of whales dragged into the protected waters of Deception Island, South Shetlands. Now it sits as a sober reminder to how our relationship with cetaceans has evolved as we continue to understand and appreciate their sentience and their capacity as 'engineers of the oceans', effectively saving us from ourselves.
